Indications:
Tetracycline is indicated for the treatment of urethral, endocervical or rectal uncomplicated infections caused by Chlamydia trachomatis. Besides, tetracycline is indicated in infections caused by the following microorganisms: Rickettsiae. Mycoplama pneumoniae. Psittacosis and ornithosis agents. Venereal agents of lymphogranuloma and granuloma inguinale. Spirochaetaceae of recurrent fever (Borrelia recurrentis).

As antibacterial, a dose of 250 to 500 mg every 6 hours is recommended, or 500 to 1 gram every 12 hours. As antiacne agent, 500 to 2 grams daily in a divided dose, as adjuvant therapy. When improvement is observed (generally after 3 weeks), the dose should be reduced gradually to keep a dose of 125 to 1.000 mg daily. The appropriate remission of lesions is also possible with therapy on alternate or intermittent days. Gonorrhea: 500 mg every 6 hours, for 5 days. Syphilis: 500 mg every 6 hours for 15 days (primary syphilis) or 30 days (tertiary syphilis). Rectal, endocervical or non complicated urethral infection with Chlamydia trachomatis: 500 mg, 4 times per day for at least 7 days. The maximum dose in adults is up to 4 grs. per day.
